    Abstract

In this study, we examined user perception on intelligent products according to product usage context by using examples of intelligent products with mixed attributes of behavior inducement and behavior assistance. Since intelligent products are based on common products as mother products, there are appropriate intellectualization methods depending on the usage environment, usage context, mother products’ function and property. Thus, for investigating proper intelligent product design methods, it is required to analyze the various properties of mother products. We examined overall product evaluation and perceived usefulness of the toothbrush which has mixed attributes of behavior inducement and behavior assistance. Experiment we conducted confirmed that the behavior inducement type toothbrush were preferred to the behavior assistance type toothbrush, and participants perceived that the behavior inducement type toothbrush was more useful than the behavior assistance toothbrush.
